Hello, and welcome to Hope On A Dollar, a simple website with a simple goal: spreading hope and light in a time of despair and darkness. If you’re here, two things are true: 1) By whatever means, one of our dollar bills found its way to you, and 2) for whatever reason, you need hope. Maybe you’re concerned (or even terrified) about the political situation in our country, and the threat to democracy (and citizens’ lives). Maybe you’re struggling with mental illness. Maybe you or a loved one are battling a physical illness. Maybe you’re dealing with a relationship problem, or you’re overwhelmed at work, or you’re fighting desperately to make ends meet, or you’re just feeling beaten down by life. We’re here to remind you that there is always hope, that you (and all of us) will make it through this, that you are beautiful and worthy of love, that goodness will prevail in the end.
Maybe this message itself is enough. If not, feel free to peruse our website to learn a little more about hope, and how you can find it in your life.
When you’re ready, take the hope you’ve received, and give it to others. There are multiple ways you can do this: The easiest way is to spend that dollar you found, just like you would spend any other dollar. Use it at the grocery store, a fast food restaurant, a gas station, a vending machine, etc. Trust that it will find its way to someone who needs it, just like it did for you. If you’re looking to offer hope in a more tangible way, consider serving in your community by visiting the Idealist website (previously known as VolunteerMatch).
Thank you, and remember, there is always hope!
As a bonus, follow the journey of your hopeful dollar by posting on Instagram (@hopeonadollar) and Bluesky (@hopeonadollar.bsky.social). Post a picture of your dollar, along with the (general) location of where you found it!
